About

Home // About

The International Conference of Advanced Veterinary Science and Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICAVESS) is held by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia in collaboration with Asian Association of Veterinary Schools and OIE Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific (OIE-RRAP). This conference is an academic platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, students, professionals, non-governmental organizations, industry, and stakeholders worldwide to present research results and simultaneously develop communication opportunities for further collaboration.

ICAVESS was first held online in 2020 in Yogyakarta as a series of annual events at the 19th Asian Association of Veterinary Schools (AAVS) meeting on 28-29 March 2021. The theme was “Synergizing Sciences for Sustainable Animal, Human and Environmental Qualities in Global Change”, which was motivated by the concept of responsible, sustainable development.

Continuing the success of the first ICAVESS on 28-29 March 2021, the 2nd ICAVESS will be held on September 17-18, 2022. “Multidiscipline Collaboration for The Innovative and Productive Development in Veterinary Science” is the theme of this conference. With the development of the era, the challenges faced by researchers, academics, practitioners, community institutions, industry, and stakeholders are also becoming more complex. This is what then drives the urgency to implement integrated collaboration from various backgrounds in expertise.

Cases such as COVID-19, genetic mutation, dynamics of disease transmission, and zoonotic cases require various parties with different disciplines to handle them. As another example, the occurrence of emerging and re-emerging diseases is triggered by various factors. These factors include human population expansion, urbanization, globalization, climate change, poverty, social inequality, migration, trade and consumption of wildlife, livestock production industry, irrational use of antimicrobials, development of antimicrobial resistance in humans and livestock, and the implementation of public health measures such as vaccination and sanitation. The scope of aspects of predisposing factors for emerging and re-emerging diseases illustrates the breadth and dynamics of the problems that must be resolved, and these may not be  achievable by only involving a single contribution from certain parties. The dynamics and variety of challenges faced require productive development. Solving these matters requires a multidisciplinary teamwork.

Scopes:

The scope of our seminar represented our concern of advanced researches without leaving environment conditions to be in harmony. Topics of relevance for the conference include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. One Health, Zoonosis, and Food Biosafety
  2. Biological and Basic Veterinary Sciences
  3. Preclinical Studies, Biomedical, and Biotechnologies
  4. Veterinary Clinical Studies
  5. Ethology and Animal Welfare

Selected papers will be published in an online proceeding. For submission and reviewing processes please go to “Submission” link in this web page.
